Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28, 1952) is an American stage actress and film actor. She was nominated for an Academy Award nomination for her performance as Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves and she is also very well known for her portrayal of the President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica as the wife of President on Independence Day and for her leading part in Donnie Darko as the title persona's mother.
